The
Religious AIDS Network Organized Personnel Training Together |
In November
2006 at Wat Phrathat Doi Saket, Chiengmai, the committee on HIV/AIDS
networking consisting of representatives from Buddhism, Islam, Catholics
and Protestants joined hands together in organizing a training workshop
for coordinators and health workers with the "Centers for strengthening
the community potential" totaling 60 centers supported by 'global
funds'. The purpose of this training workshop is to let the AIDS workers
understand the role of religion in combating AIDS. It also intends
to increase knowledge in the use of preventive medicine, the way to
work with the community, counseling, rights of people living with
HIV/AIDS, value of life and sex, including collaboration among the
various religious sectors. |
Participants
in this workshop include 96 persons from 4 religions (with 31 Buddhist
monks). The participants are keenly interested in the training throughout
the workshop time, especially when it comes the time for opinion sharing
both within the group and in the general assembly. This training workshop
is a good sign for future cooperation. |
