The
International Day of HIV/AIDS of 2006 |
The Camillian
Social Center in Rayong organized an activity to commemorate the International
Day of HIV/AIDS on 1 December 2006 presided over by Mr. Polwat Chayanuvat,
governor of Rayong. More than 1000 people consisting of students,
enterprise workers, 62 government and private organizations participated
in this celebration. |
Every year,
December 1 is the International Day of HIV/AIDS. Several Catholic
organizations working on AIDS organized some sort of a campaign on
this occasion, among which the Camillian Social Center, through leadership
of Rev. Siranon Sanpetch and Rev. G. Contarin, organized a grand celebration
with the following objectives: 1. To provide correct knowledge about
HIV/AIDS to the people in Rayong, so that they will be aware of and
cooperate in the prevention of HIV/AIDS spreading, and 2. To raise
funds for the prevention of AIDS in the province of Rayong. |
There
were 4 steps of preparation and coordination (4 meetings) in joining
hands with both the government and private sectors in Rayong and also
with representatives of the network of people living with HIV/AIDS,
schools, factories, communities, etc., in order to form an ad hoc
committee to expedite the commemorative day. Public information has
been carried out through various media in Rayong. |
An evaluation-after
indicates that there was a very good collaboration from all the parties
concerned both in Rayong and the vicinity. |
