Message
on World Day of the Sick from H.E. Bishop John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen |
The
11th February of every year is the "World Day of the Sick"
and this year is the 15th anniversary that the international community
invites all to offer special prayers for the sick, the disabled and
all the people in various kinds of need. |
We
should not forget that the world day of the sick falls on the feast
of Our Lady of Lourdes. By this memorial the Church wants us to pray
to the Blessed Virgin Mary who is "Salus Infirmorum" by
which it will make our memorial of the sick complete. Hence, the Church's
memorial ceremony is a special occasion whereby we will pray fervently
to beg graces from God through His Blessed Mother. |
For
the upcoming 15th World Day of the Sick the Church will celebrate
it in Seoul, Korea together with Bishops, priests, religious and health-care
people from all over the world. The gathering will pray and find ways
to heal society and be witness to the mercy of God and to remind each
of us that: |
Life
… is the gift of God, a gift for us to extend our solidarity to our
brothers and sisters, even though they are not sick. |
|
Health
… is a special gift bestowed upon us by God to take care of, so that
we will be able to take care of our society, especially the poor ones
who are suffering from illness. |
|
Spirituality
… is a source of enlightenment that God has given us from the day
of our birth and gradually developing thereafter, so that we may see
our own sickness, understand it, accept it and make improvement of
it under God's graces. |
|
I
invite all the faithful to pray and do something for the sick as the
occasion may arise, to bring blessings and good wishes from the Holy
Father to the sick and the poor as the occasion comes along. |
In
conclusion, let us all pray for one another so that we will truly
understand the meaning of life and good health. |
Blessing
you all in Christ
Bishop John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen
