Role of a Servant

St.
Paul has mentioned about the role of a Christian. We as followers
of Christ sitting in this Church seem to be of something more, because
we all are working the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Thailand. This
means that we have special duties, i.e. we are special instruments
in the propagation of good news to our Christian brothers and sisters
whether it be publication, book or activities within the local Church
structure. It is similar to what St. Paul had earlier performed, i.e.
announcing good news to those who did not know Christ and living one's
life for Christ. |
|
While
each of us has his or her own responsibility, whether one is a father,
mother, child, whose role is never contradictory, but on the contrary,
if we perform our role well, it is paramount to being a good evangelizer,
making the work under our responsibility more credible. |

Often
times we hear that Jesus talks about fasting. In fact, fasting is
an important means for us to overcome ourselves in order to come closer
to God and being closer to God makes us more conducive to receiving
graces for our daily living. Holy Mother Church gave strong attachment
to fasting since the time of the Old Testament, wearing sack clothes,
sitting on ashes, food abstinence, etc., as repentance for our wrongdoing
and at the same time training us to overcome our internal sinful desires
and inclination. |
|
The
various means by which the word of God tells us are not easy and it
does not mean that we do it right away and we are able to conquer
all our sinful habits. Time is required to slowly curb down our bad
inclination and overcome our defects. I believe that the word of the
Gospel that we hear every Sunday or every day will make us feel closer
to God through an attempt to overcome our defective behavior. Once
we have achieved it we will be one of the happiest individuals even
in this world. |
