Care
of "Health" of Families with the Impact of AIDS |
Reported
by Suthasini Noi-In Foundation
|
At the present moment
there are 300 families affected by AIDS within the community which
are being taken care of by our foundation. Rice, dry food and necessary
things for daily life are supplied to those families. On our routine
visitation we also impart knowledge about 'good health' to them.
We follow up children and send critical cases to doctors. All the
times, we try to teach them both in schools and in the community
to live peacefully with love and sharing among themselves.
|
As of today,
more and more children with HIV are living with the elderly resulting
in many children not being taken care of properly, because children
with HIV must take medicine every day at a fixed time with a right
prescription including keeping proper storage of the medicine. It
also involves care of health, body cleanliness, seasonal clothes wearing,
proper food consumption and the knowledge in noticing the possible
side effects. |
The
elderly has limitation on the above-mentioned matters because of a
weak eye-sight, e.g. a tablet to be taken half of one-third of it
at a time, a tonic that should be taken 2.2 cc or 12.5 cc at a time,
or a certain medicine must be taken every 8 hours, etc. |
The elderly
does not understand and cannot possibly do it. He does not know even
how to count the time interval. In often cases, position of the sun
in the morning and in the afternoon is used as the time for medicine
application. The unstable time of medication yields ineffectiveness
of the medicine, causing side effects and death in certain cases because
of ignorance on the part of the elderly. |
Out of 300
families under caring mandate of our foundation, children of the majority
are under care of the elderly who often must take care of more than
2 children per family. |
