CHC Annual Meeting
CHC organized its annual 2550/2007 meeting on 6 July 2550 at the CBCT Meeting Room chaired by Most. Rev. John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen, CHC President.
It is due to the fact that CBCT has a policy to manage its personnel as most relevant to the nature of work and make the best use of the staff, but the old structure sill causes some cumbersome obstacles such as CHD, originally under the Department for Evangelization, is now under the Department for Social Works with Most Rev. Philip Banjong Chaiyara as President and Rev. Prasit Rujirat as Secretary General.

With the following new changes of CHC staff: Rep. of Chiengmai Diocese - Rev. Viravit Sasai; Rep. of St. Mary Hospital - Sr, Adella Pisutsinthop; Rep. of Camillian Hospital - Rev. Phairat Sriprasert; Rep. of San Camillo Hospital - Sr. Rungpet Phanwongsa; and at the same time there comes the CHC structural change, it is therefore necessary to adjust the CHC office management as well. So, we will have a meeting of persons concerned in order to revise our new work regulations.

Along the above information we wish to notify our work progress as following:
10 Catholic network groups on AIDS throughout Thailand stopped joining with the "Community Potential Development Project" supported by Global Fund after 1 year of cooperation because of the evaluation finding that there has been some management and cooperation problem among the religious networks. Hence, the 10 Catholic Network Groups withdrew themselves from being supported by Global Fund, but still continue to coordinate information and activities with the religious network groups working on AIDS.

Lessons learned through working on AIDS project: The Catholic Sub-committee on AIDS will make an evaluation on activities of member organizations to find out the results, e.g. knowledge and experiences received from the work, after which there will be a compilation of a handbook in order to be the informative data in a joint activity or to extend it to other projects. The sub-committee will prepare 2 handbooks: 1. Protection by the religious perspectives, and 2. Community Work.

Potential Development for Children living with HIV Project: The Catholic Sub-committee on AIDS received a sum of financial support from abroad to help Catholic institutions working on orphanages for children living with HIV for a period of 3 years. The sub-committee has decided to assist 4 such institutions with a total of 138 HIV orphan children. The strategy is to: 1. support all expenditures of the children residing in the center, 2. develop suitable education for the children, and 3. develop potential of the children carers. There will be a roving team making a regular bi-monthly visit to the various fund-recipient institutions. If the end-of-project evaluation finds that the project is successful a further development project will be started at the community level.
Rev. Pairat announced at the end that he would invite some knowledgeable persons to be the executive members of the AIDS CHD committee.
