Another
big preparation to announce
"Catholic Grateful Children":
|
The
Catholic Committee on the Elderly conducted their meeting
to organize another "Catholic Grateful Children"
project after a great success of the previous one. As a result
of the July meeting the following progresses are reported:
|
Chanthaburi
Diocese: Five additional Elderly groups have been established.
|
|
Nakhonsawan
Diocese: There is a project to revive the weak existing
groups. The Elderly Group of the Holy Name of Jesus at Ban
Paeng, Singburi, has been officially recognized by the Council
for the Elderly of Thailand under the Patronage of Grand Princess
Mother Srinakarin.
|
|
Suratthani
Diocese: Plan is being set up to establish the diocesan
elderly groups. |
|
Ratchaburi
Diocese: There had been 3 meetings with the elderly speakers
to provide formation among themselves. |
|
Bangkok Archdiocese:
They are organizing a seminar for the Archdiocesan elderly people
focusing on organization at the regional level for benefits
of further group expansion. |
|
The Committee
on the Elderly is of the opinion that the 'grateful children'
project should be continued and further information should be
publicized, but some operational procedure might be changed.
This Bangkok Archdiocesan sub-committee will act as the center
of coordination with all the dioceses for the details of the
activity. Any interested parish should contact them for further
information. |
|
Qualities of the
elderly to be considered for award are as follows: 1. Health
and 2. Activities for benefits of the society. |
|
At present data
of the elderly all over the country are being compiled in order
to register number of the Catholic elderly people. Each diocese
should send such a list to: The Committee on the Elderly, 122/11
