The
Church's Teaching on Life,
Marriage and Family
|
The
Catholic Commission for Health Pastoral Care organized a formation
session on "The Church's Teaching on Life, Marriage and
Family" on 2-3 September at the Pastoral Training Center,
Sampran. The main speaker was Rev. Thomas J.Euteneuer,
President of Human Life International, U.S.A. Rev.Banjong
Santisukniran was interpreter. There were more than 60 participants
representing school administrators, teachers and students
from the Catholic schools.
|
|
Besides knowing
the behavior of their students the Catholic teachers must also
be familiar with the Church's teaching on life in order to maintain
its stand and position. Hence, Rev. Thomas who is specialized
on this field was invited to give a lecture to promote and protect
life, especially abortion, which must be fought against by every
means through campaigns with various groups inclusive of mercy
killing. |
|
Pro-Life
focuses on fundamental principles, i.e. call to society to be
aware of the fundamental rights of a human being from the conception
until natural death. |
|
Currently
every country in the world is making campaigns on using condoms
under support of the State with neither NGOs nor organizations
able to stop it. But what a teacher can do is to teach the students
about dignity of human sexuality, because life value is universal
which every religion and human race can talk about. The speaker
finally concluded that if we want to be successful in life promotion
we have to "change the behavior and not support the means". |
|
To share the idea
of life protection in the footstep of Pro-Life process a team
of speakers consisting of Rev.Banjong Santisulniran, Rev.
Siranon Sanpetch and Rev. Pairat Sriprasert provided training
to a group of priests, religious and lay leaders at the Chanthaburi
Diocesan Center in Cholburi on 4 September, and to a group of
priests, religious, major seminarians including rectors of various
religious houses around Lux Mundi seminary on 5 September. Experiences
of the trip to Thailand of Rev. Thomas can be found at: www.hli.org/ |
