What are there in the North Catholic Health Conference?
As already reported previously, CHC (Catholic Commission for Health Pastoral Care) under the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Thailand, helped the establishment of the Catholic Health Committee of the north in 2006 with the objective of networking of all the Catholic institutions working on health in order to exchange their views, improving their work efficiency, developing the staff's potential in relation with various targeted groups, such as the youth, women, the elderly, the disabled, the HIV-contracted persons and the ethnics, and also providing pastoral care for the working staff so that they may have the spirit of love and service toward the suffering human beings.
In this year of 2007 the Catholic North Health Committee organized a conference for all the group members on 22-24 March at the Chiengmai Pastoral Center. Topics of the conference consist of: structure of Chiengmai diocese, health situation in the north, health situation in the national health welfare system, teaching of the Church on the value of life and sex, and planning for health activities with regards to the youth, women, ethnics and staff workers who work with the HIV/AIDS persons. All the resolutions derived thereof will be followed up and helped by the Catholic North Health Committee to accomplish their end.
As for the development of potential of the health staff and volunteers which will be expedited by CHC is as follows: lessons learned from the work, spiritual renewal, exposure trip on AIDS activities within the institutions and the community, sufficiency economy, villagers' occupation, sex education, value of life, death, formation of personnel who will help others, website, CD and support for seminars.
