The Catholic
Commission for Health Pastoral Care organized a seminar
for the personnel working on HIV/AIDS on the above captioned
theme on 18-20 July 2005 at the Pastoral Training Center presided
over by Dr.Saowanit Rattanavichit, secretary general
of the Catholic Commission for Women and Social Science Lecturer
at the Hua Chiew University. 33 participants attend this seminar. |

|
|
|
This
training seminar is in response to the request of Catholic institutions
in the locality who want to develop the potential of their staff
responsible for project designs and systematic data collection.
Prior training on "Wholesome management of the project"
was conducted on March 2005 with 32 participants. They are able
to better write a project. However, it is found that most of
them still have problems in the data collection resulting in
several deficiencies. So, this is a continuing training with
a special stress on collecting data with the technology for
benefits and convenience in their works. |
|
The
objectives of this training are: |
1. |
To
let the participants understand the tools and procedure in the
data collection, and |
2. |
To
enable the participants build their own system to standardize
the data. |
|
The
speaker first reviews basic knowledge about a project management
before going into the qualitative and quantitative data, etc.
Participants are asked to build their own tools in the data
collection and design of the report format. |
|
The
speaker also talks about the "health indicator at various
levels" by which participants must find out the behavioral
changes that happen among the targeted group. This can be achieved
only depending on the skills of the data collectors. It is the
advice of the speaker that the participants must record each
and every activity performed which will be beneficial to the
report writing. |
|
As
regards to the "Good analysis and evaluation" project
the speaker says that a good project must possess the following
data: |
1. |
Objectives
of the project. |
2. |
Reasons
for initiating the project. |
3. |
Practical
means to achieve the objectives. |
4. |
Persons
responsible for the project. |
5. |
Beneficiaries. |
6. |
A
clear time frame of the project. |
7. |
Resources
necessary for the project accomplishment. |
8. |
Environmental
factors. |
|
|
The
speaker also gives the module of questionnaires used by the
government in collecting the data to be adapted by participants
for their future perusal.
As for these continuing training the CHC plans to have an evaluation
of the staff who have undergone the training. The time will
be announced later on. |
