Community
Life Renewal Project Launched |
The
community life renewal is arisen from the get-together of the
various religious institutions working on AIDS consisting of
Buddhism, Muslim and Christianity (Catholic and Protestant).
They are called: "Networks of Thailand's Religions working
on AIDS" headed by Rev. Phra Maha Bunchuey Sirindharo,
a Buddhist monk. |
In
2003 the Thai Ministry of Public Health began to receive financial
assistance (global funds) from the developed countries to fight
HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. After 2 years of operation it was
found that an important element was missing and that was the
spiritual dimension which sent the negative impact on the community.
Religion is the principal institution which has the capability
of caring, supporting and helping the HIV patients and their
families. Hence, the religious institutions are another important
factor able to support the caring already done by original lay
organizations in the first 2 years. The religious institutions
will become a new partner and will be financially supported
for a period of 3 years in 60 areas: divided into 30 areas for
the Buddhists, 14 for the Muslims, 10 for the Catholics and
6 for the Protestants. All sectors will be coordinated by the
Norway Church Relief Services. |
|
Key
activities during the first year. |

education institutes, community leaders and HIV patients and
persons receiving the impact thereof.
|
2. Potential
development with regards to caring and counseling for the
volunteers at the center coming from various partners within
the community.
|
3.

a protocol agreement with the Ministry of Public Health we began

areas in connection with project activities and roles of the
coordinators on 26-28 May 2006. After that each religious group
