Statistics
of
HIV and AIDS Patients in Thailand
B.E. 2527 to 31 June 2549
|
From this data it is expected
that in 2006 the accumulated cases will amount to 1,109,000,
out of which 53,400 cases will be children. Of importance
is the note that there will be 17,000 new cases within this
year.

It
is interesting to note from statistics of the Ministry of Public
Health by the end of 2005 that the trend of people dying of
AIDS is being decreased (1995-2005). The same source of report
also says that the risk age group of people (25-34) originally
made up of 51.65 % have been significantly reduced during the
past 3 years. It is further reported that the ratio of young
girls contracted with HIV virus is higher than boy teenagers.
Sex is the highest risk. This should lead us to reconsider the
motivation and value in sexuality among the younger generation
in the future. |
Other
than the teenagers who take a higher ratio in contracting HIV,
another group that we should closely follow are the laborers,
factoryworkers, drivers and general workers who make the ratio
of 46.56% of HIV contractors. Again, the main risk derives from
sex. The mother-to-child HIV, however, makes up only 4.11 % |
