Networking Expansion by and for the Elderly |
The Catholic Committee on
the Elderly organized its annual seminar and meeting of year 2006
for the diocesan representative/coordinators on the theme: "High
Value - Advanced Age - Happy Heart" at the Pastoral Training
Center, Sampran, presided over by H.E. Bishop John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen.
There were 73 participants from all the dioceses with some religious
as well. |
The objectives of this seminar
are: 1. To allow representative/coordinators from the various dioceses
to meet, exchange opinion, experiences and coordinate their activities,
2. To plan together activities for the year 2007, 3. To find ways
to promote activities for the elderly in every diocese, and 4. To
strengthen the power among the networking groups who are working for
the elderly |
Miss. Ubol Limsakul

elderly policy, was invited to be the speaker in this seminar. He
says that at the present time there are more than 6.8 million elderly
people in Thailand and that the State is planning to provide welfares
on accommodations, health, tax exemption, etc. The important thing
is that the State will try to create and promote an atmosphere by
which the elderly will remain in the family, community and society. |
Fr. Pibul Visitnonthachai
gave a talk on "Catholic Ways of Working with the Elderly".
He also gave the 'Catholic Bishops' Conference of Thailand Guidelines'

After the talk the participants
were divided into groups to lay out plan of activities for the Year
2007 with clear indicators that the objectives will be achieved. Plan
of action is as following : |
