Welcome House Udonthani
organized a training seminar on "Human Rights vis-a-vis AIDS"
on 7-8 September 2006 at Undonthani sponsored by the Catholic Commission
for Health Pastoral Care with 45 participants coming from 19 Catholic
institutions working on AIDS. Speakers are Ms.Pensiri Srichan, chief
of the VD and AIDS provincial section and Mr.Sathien Thanphrom,
official from the Rights Protection Office, Bangkok.

| The objectives of this seminar are: | |
| 1) | To develop the potential of the staff and volunteers who work on health and human rights |
| 2) | To have the participants exchange experiences on protection and human rights on AIDS in each locality |
| 3) | To create networks on human rights in the north-east territory. |
| The expectation of participants before the seminar is to learn about the current situation in the north-east especially with regards to human rights.They want to know about the rights related with the people with HIV, so that they will be able to help them. They want to share this knowledge with the HIV/AIDS people who are working in various enterprises.They want to know how this organization operates so that they can eventually coordinate with it. | |
| An evaluation of the result of this seminar is as follows: The participants have acquired the knowledge of one's own and others' basic human rights; they have learned the meaning of human rights, freedom, dignity, equality, international convention, state constitution and institutions which are working on human rights so that they can further coordinate with these institutions. The acquired knowledge derived from this seminar will certainly be adapted and used in their respective area of responsibility and locality. | |
