Grateful Children
Project will be expedited
this Year |
The
Catholic Subcommittee for the Elderly conducted its No. 1/2549
meeting on 18 January chaired by Fr. Viroj Nanthajinda. |
This
meeting is the consequence of the general meeting convened in
November 2548 which assigned the following activities for the
working subcommittee to expedite:
1. To follow up the "Grateful Children" project,
2. Structure of the Elderly commission a the diocesan and CBCT
level, and
3. Collect data about the elderly at the diocesan level. |
The
meeting had agreed to make announcement of the grateful children
at the national level in 2549 with conditions that each diocese
must send the 1 nominee per each diocese by 25 February this
year. The form of announcement and ceremony will be designed
later. Bishop John Bosco Panya Kritcharoen will be invited to
preside over the ceremony. |
Structure
of the elderly of each diocese is currently incorporated in
some departments of the diocese. On this issue the CHC is working
with Bishop Panya for the clear chart. Fr.Pairat Sriprasert,
the secretary general, asserted that in whatever sector of the
Church this work may be, it is the work that gives service to
God all the same, but the main objective is that the work must
encourage the elderly to play the role of helping their group
itself and become strong enough to run the work by themselves. |
The
survey data of the Catholic elderly people consist of the
following details: 1. Patron Saint 2. Name 3. Family Name
4. Day/Month/Year of Birth 5. Age 6. Present Address. The
data must be sent to the CHC commission before the end of
October this year. Our commission will copy all the data in
a diskette to be forwarded to each diocese for further actions.
The elderly group of the Chanthaburi diocese officially established
the committee for the elderly on 22 January 2549.
|
The
Catholic association of the elderly of St. Joseph Church of
the Ratchaburi diocese organized the spiritual renewal on 18
January 2549 for the northern section and on 25 January 2549
for the southern section. |
The
archdiocese of Tharae is preparing to establish a new elderly
association and will send names of the elderly of various groups
to be members of the Council for the Elderly under the patronage
of His Majesty the King.
The next meeting for
the working subcommittee is set for 27 February as a further
follow-up of the work. |
